Floral Vintage Finds

I love it when op-shop finds just coordinate perfectly together! I had this happen yesterday when I quickly stopped by a few of my favourite op-shops and found a bunch of lovely floral things in matching colours! Vintage fabrics can often be really hard to find, so I was really happy to find the amount that I did! I'm planning on making them into pretty floral dresses soon. However, my favourite find from yesterday was a pretty pink Royal Doulton saucer! I have started a habit of buying at least one vintage saucer each time I op-shop to build up my collection and so had a quick last minute look before I left and found the pretty pink saucer sitting right on top of the pile of vintage plates. Have you founds any pretty vintage finds lately?

Tacos In The Park

Spring is such a pretty time of year! The photos above were taken a couple of weeks ago when a couple of friends and I went and had some tacos from a little taco van for lunch in a beautiful, flowery park! It's so nice to be able to enjoy relaxing times like this now, something that hardly happens in winter when I'm super busy with uni! I'm definitely going to make the most of these moments while I can!

Inspiration | Summer Dinner Party

{Unknown}
{Unknown}

Next month Matt will be turning 21! To celebrate he is wanting to make the most out of the warm summer nights by having an outdoor feast, with our closest friends! He has asked me to help him plan and style it, which I'm pretty excited about as I think it will be a lot of fun!  I found these images on Pinterest and we think they are the perfect inspiration for the look and feel we want to achieve for his dinner party. I'm pretty sure he has planned it for two weeks time, so lets hope we can get it all organised and ready in that short amount of time!

Homemade Bircher Muesli

One of my goals for this summer is to become a bit healthier and something that I have always struggled with is eating a healthy and wholesome breakfast everyday. I'm glad to say that over the last couple of weeks I have become a lot better at actually putting some effort into breakfast! I've made my own muesli and have been making lots of fruit smoothies and now my mum has started making homemade bircher muesli, which I am loving! It is so delicious that I thought I would share a recipe with you that you might like to try for yourself!

Ingredients:
- Rolled oats
- Pepitas (pumpkin seeds)
- LSA
- Palm sugar
- Milk (I use soy milk which I think works really well!)

Method:
To keep it simple, it is a good idea to just use a jar to put all of the ingredients in! A basic guide is to fill up the jar 3/4s of the way with the rolled oats, pumpkin seeds (as many as you like, it gives the muesli a nice crunch!) and LSA (only a tiny amount, about a teaspoon, is needed), and then fill the jar up to the brim with the milk. To finish sprinkle some palm sugar on top and leave it in the fridge for at least an hour (it's best when left over night!). Feel free to add whatever you like, that's one of the best things about muesli, there are so many different variations! Enjoy!

Elizabeth Handmade Market

Last night was the Elizabeth Handmade Market and after weeks and weeks of sewing and making it was really exciting to see all of the things I had made on display ready for people to buy! I had forgotten how much I love doing markets. It was really fun getting ready and setting everything up and talking to lots of like minded people about all things handmade! A special thanks to my lovely boyfriend Matt for helping me set up and taking these photos for me, and thank you to everyone who stopped by and said hello last night, it made my day! Now that the market has finished, I'm excited to start working on getting my online shop up and running. I will be sure to make an announcement here when that happens!

Lovely Mustard

{Source Unknown}

Mustard is such a pretty colour that I don't think I will ever get tired of! How cute is that first dress and the lovely shoes in the last image?! I need to find a pair like that for myself! I found these pretty images while looking for inspiration on Pinterest this morning. I hope they inspire you this weekend!

Today I'm going to visit a new coffee shop that is opening in town called Messiah! My boyfriend is working there and he makes really good coffee so if you live in Launceston you should go and check it out!

The Yellow Brick Road Boutique

Todays featured boutique is The Yellow Brick Road, a lovely, whimsical space in Auckland, New Zealand! (Why are all the best boutiques in New Zealand?!) I discovered this pretty shop when Frankie included an article about it in one of their issues and have been wishing to visit it ever since! I don't think there's another shop in this world that screams 'Janelle' as much as this one. The pretty pastel colours, the vintage display cabinets and the unique bits and pieces on offer at this shop, make me want to explore it for hours on end! The Yellow Brick Road boutique is high on my list of things to see when I visit New Zealand one day. For daily inspiration follow their Facebook page and their lovely blog!

Going To Market

It's less then two weeks until the Elizabeth Handmade Market and I've been very busy sewing and making some lovely things for a stall I'm going to have there. Above is a sneak peek of two of the pretty dresses I have made that will be available to buy from my stall! If you're in Launceston, come along and support some local makers and have a look at some of the lovely goods that will be available (take a look at the other stallholders here)! Here are the details:

Picnic Inspiration

It's that time of year when the days are heating up and it's finally warm enough to go outdoors and enjoy a picnic! Today I created a collection of my favourite picnic essentials that could be used to style the loveliest, vintage-inspired picnic! I hope it inspires you to have a picnic of your own!

4 Summer Goals

A few days ago, Elsie from A Beautiful Mess blogged about 4 Simple Goals she would like to achieve by the end of 2013. I thought I would also join in and think of 4 goals for myself to work towards but instead of aiming to have them completed by the end of the year I'm going to aim to achieve them over summer! So here are my goals for summer...

1. Document Everyday Life. Something I have always been terrible at is taking photos of events and everyday moments. Since joining Instagram and starting a blog I have certainly become a lot better at this, but still often regret not taking photos of events once they are finished. One of my summer projects this year is to start a Project Life scrapbook and I intend on filling it with many memories of this summer and of the rest of 2014. I'm hoping this project will help me to become better at taking photos of everyday life.

2. Exercise Daily. I don't love exercising at the moment. There was a time, around this time last year, where I loved it and was good at it but over winter I've lost all motivation to exercise. I want to start exercising every morning and have at least one long run (5km+) a week. Definitely looking forward to getting fit again!

3. Develop A New Style. Lately I feel as though I'm wearing the same boring items of clothing everyday. I'm so inspired by cute clothing and want to start changing my wardrobe by only buying clothing that I love and by collecting a few new vintage items. I also want to start wearing dresses more as I think warm weather is a good excuse to wear pretty summer dresses!

4. Drink More Water. I often forget to drink enough water during the day when I am busy running around doing things and this usually results in me getting a headache by the end of the day. In order to remind myself to keep drinking even when I'm busy, I am going to bring a drink bottle with me everywhere I go.

Lovely Roses

I found a pretty collection of red roses on Pinterest this morning and thought I would share them with you here. I love roses and it is a dream of mine to one day own a pretty mint green house with red roses in the front garden. Hope you are all having a lovely and relaxing weekend!
